Ah, the perils of judging poker play...
The team passed 3,000 tournaments played this weekend. The criteria for inclusion here is:

Multi-table tournaments of total buyin $100 or more played by Jerrod, Matt, Bill, or the other teammate since joining the team -

Some fun facts:

Total tournaments played: 3,034
Total juice paid by the team: $44,546.
Total 1st place finishes: 50
Total expected 1st place finishes: 23.12 (sum of 1/N for all tournaments)
Overall standard deviation per tournament: 13.27

Is standard deviation in buyins?

Yes. Buyin is defined as buyin+rebuys+entryfee.

Not at the moment; the conference call is already stretching its useful capacity at the four of us plus other people whom we back, etc. Which is not to say that if the right person approached me, we wouldn't consider it. It's just that there are very few right people out there.

Bill and I are supposed to have the manuscript done by the end of this month. The book will likely be available sometime in the late winter or early spring, after editing, publishing, etc. I don't know what the price will be exactly.

Actually, our results would be bad for a gang of cheats.

Anyone who knows enough to need the information for poker purposes ought to be able to make a pretty good guess based on the figures posted.

Any of them.

Think about it. You know the total juice. You know how many firsts they had, and how many they "should have" had. From that I can come up with a range for their winnings where the high and low ends are in the same order of magnitude and that is almost certain to contain the true number.

When I say a good guess I mean to within 30 or 40% or the real number, not something exact.

I find the team concept as I've heard described before intriguing, those calling you cheats are just jealous they didn't think of it. I've certainly played against you/your team, but have had no major controntations that I recall.

What do you think about the rate of 1st place finishes? Or I suppose more relevant than 1st place finishes would be the ROI or expected buyins of profit per tourney. Do you care to share those?

I just struggle with what is acheivable in tournaments and as a result where I should be spending my poker time vs. cash games, so I'd love to hear more about how profitable you are. Of course, I'm sure if you wanted to share it would have been part of the OP, but thought I'd ask.

The question I have is how long have you been a team? a year? 2? more?
Are you playing full-time?

Bill and Matt have jobs. I play for a living, but don't play that much because I'm a) lazy, b) writing the book (sometimes).

Bill and I started around January 2004. Matt came on in September. The fourth guy added in May of this year (?).
